Facebook deeply committed to people: Mark D’Arcy

KOCHI: All the ideas and technology should be focused on the people and there is a constant need to listen to people and reach out to them accordingly, said Mark D’Arcy, VP of global business marketing and chief creative officer of Facebook.In an interaction with Neeraj Roy, MD of Hungama Media Entertainments on the second day of the world congress of International Advertising Association (IAA) here on Thursday D’Arcy spoke of a need to give control to people and provide them transparency of the data.“Give responsibility to businesses and individuals and open the platform for as many people as possible removing the barriers. Make space for everyone to connect across the globe,” he said. At the same time he stressed a need to protect the data of the users.On the topic of `the crowd sings back-the best ideas shaping culture are shaped by culture’ he called for creating value out of the data consumer provides. “The competition is more intense and hence we have to be very comprehensive in representing the idea.”Asked about the key messages of FB, he said putting people first and fulfilling your duties to the people comes first. “We are deeply committed to make the tools accessible to all. People tell us what to do. We are also committed to innovation and keep up with the expectations of our customers and business in our platform,” he said.
