The national capital on Wednesday found itself shrouded in a dense layer of fog, with trains and flights to and from the city affected by the adverse weather. Residents and commuters reported visibility issues. The Indira Gandhi International Airport saw at least three flights diverted due to the bad weather, PTI reported. A total of five flights were diverted to various destinations between 9.30 pm on Tuesday and 7 am on Wednesday, an official told PTI.Out of these, three were diverted to Jaipur in Rajasthan and one each to Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Mumbai in Maharashtra.Images from various locations in Delhi depict people gathering around bonfires to stay warm.Tuesday also saw the national capital battle a dense fog, while extensive areas of North India were also affected, causing disruptions in flight and train services.The official X handle of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) posted about very dense fog in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Northwest Rajasthan, and eastern Uttar Pradesh.Simultaneously, flight operations at the Delhi airport were hampered due to the thick fog blanketing the national capital on Tuesday morning.
