Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Wednesday shared a new image of Vikram Lander which was clicked by Pragyan Rover using a navigation camera. The image was clicked at 7:35 am today. ISRO shared the photo with the caption ‘Smile Please’ on the social media platform ‘X.’ The new image has been called ‘image of the mission’ by the agency. In the image shared by the National Space Agency, ChaSTE payload and Instrument for Lunar Seismic Activity (ILSA) for measuring the seismicity around the landing site can be seen. — isro (@isro) The Navcam used to capture the images was developed by the Laboratory for Electro-Optics Systems (LEOS).Isro on Tuesday evening announced that the payload or instruments aboard the Pragyan rover of the Chandrayaan-3 mission has confirmed the presence of sulphur and other chemical elements, as expected, on the lunar surface near the south pole, and that the search for hydrogen is underway.Along with announcing the presence of sulphur, ISRO on Sunday shared the first observations from the ChaSTE payload that is onboard Vikram Lander. ChaSTE (Chandra’s Surface Thermophysical Experiment) measures the temperature profile of the lunar topsoil around the pole, to understand the thermal behaviour of the moon’s surface. The space agency shared a graph illustrating the temperature variations of the lunar surface/near-surface at various depths, as recorded during the probe’s penetration.India on August 23 scripted history by becoming the first nation to land a spacecraft, Chandrayaan-3, near the south pole of the moon. The success of India’s third lunar mission made it only the fourth country to achieve the milestone after the US, Russia and China.
