NASA has discovered several asteroids that pose a risk to Earth, including the prominent asteroid Bennu. Dust and rock samples from Bennu were brought back to Earth. Another dangerous asteroid, Apophis, will be studied by the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft. NASA plans to investigate Apophis’ close approach in 2029. The agency has named this mission ‘God of Chaos’. Apophis will come very close to Earth on April 13, 2029, visible to the naked eye. Concerns remain for potential impacts in 2036 and 2068.
