The 29th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) began at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata with the opening ceremony featuring notable personalities like Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Sonakshi Sinha, Sourav Ganguly, and Mahesh Bhatt. Salman Khan sported a stylish all-black ensemble and was honored with a commemoration trophy by Bengali actor Dev Adhikari. In his speech, Salman expressed lighthearted envy towards Mamata Banerjee’s modest residence, comparing it to his own house in Mumbai.
