RBI Board Meet: No decision on PCA norm review or liquidity yet

NEW DELHI: The much-anticipated RBI board under new Governor Shaktikanta Das met today, but sources said there was no major decision taken on liquidity or PCA norms review. Citing the sources, ETNow reported that the next board meet will be held in January and will be timed according to the Union Budget.The board is learnt to have discussed liquidity issues extensively and what actions should be taken to improve balance sheet of lenders. It also deliberated on capital infusion required for the system.The new Governor acquainted himself with various issues on the table, the sources said, adding that provisioning for December and March quarters also featured in the talks.This was the first RBI board meet after the new governor Shaktikanta Das took charge.The meeting was expected to review the progress with respect of some of the decisions taken in the last meet on November 19. Among other things, governance issue — the role of central board in the decision making of the RBI– was also expected to be the central idea of discussion for the meeting.
